Congratulations WaMac Art Winners

On Tuesday, April 8, 2008, Mr. Skeries and twelve Art Students traveled to Dyersville, IA for the WaMac Art Conference. The Conference was held at Beckman High School.
Students work of art was selected to compete in the Conference. The following students were:

Physics Olympics

This year’s regional physics competition was again held at UNI Dome with 265 students representing 25 different schools. Eleven of those were Sailor Physics Students.

At the event, Columbus managed two 1st places and a 2nd. Winning in the Tower competition was the team of: Iva Zdilar, Darcy Kjeld, and Savanah Hayes. The team of Ben Heinzman and Jacob Peterson also took a first in the Order of Magnitude competition. And, the team of Tobias Hundhege and Katie Musgrave took 2nd place in the Optical Slalom main event. Also contributing to the overall team efforts were: Zach Werkman, Justin Kirchoff, Keagan Everett, and Michael Berns. Great Job Sailors!

Congratulations Math Team



Congratulations to our math team who went to Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids on February 16! Fili Bogdanic and Kenei Menning tied for first place for 10th grade in the Target round for small schools. Kenei Menning receieved first place for 10th grade in the Sprint round for small schools. Matt Cushing receieved 3rd place for 10th grade in the Target round for small schools. The entire team of Fili, Kene, Matt and Mitchell Forker came in 2nd place for a junior varsity team in the small school division. Way to go!

Congratulations Dance Team

Five members of the Columbus Dance Team competed at the Iowa State Dance Championship Solo Competition this past weekend. Alison Beyer, Alli Burke, Emma Dolan, Kenzie Johnson, and Lainee Reuter all received Division 1 Ratings, the highest possible rating in the Solo Competition. Congratulations Sailors.

Also, a belated congratulations to Kenzie Johnson for receiving an All-American Dancer designation when the CHS Dance Team attended National Dance Association Camp this summer.

Volleyball Honors

Congratulations to Kaity Frost, Lauren Friedman, and Michelle Schupbach for being selected on to the WAMAC All-Confrence 1st team. Rachel Schaefer and Joy Klaren were selected to 2nd Team All-Confrence. Savannah Hayes and Nicole Hulme recieved honorable mention. Coach Kenny Frost was selected as the Coach of the Year. Congratulations Sailors!

Volleyball News

Congratulations to Kaity Frost for having been selected to play in the Senior Classic. This is for the top 32 girls volleyball players in the state all classes. And congratulatons to Coach Kenny Frost who has been selected to coach in the Classic. Way to go! Back to Home Page
